DAY 01: ARRIVAL – PHNOM PENH (meals excluded)

You will meet our tour guide and driver at the Phnom Penh International Airport for a warm welcome and private transfer to the hotel. After the hotel check-in, have lunch on your own account. In the afternoon, venture out to explore the National Museum which is housed in an attractively traditional building. Inside the house is the great collection of Khmer craftsmanship. The next tourist attractions would be the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda (made up of 5,000 silver tiles). Later, proceed to the placid temple of Wat Phnom situated on the top of the hill. Listen to the legend about the 14th-century woman who first worshipped the Buddha objects in this temple.

This morning, you will take a drive to the historical Choeung Ek Memorial for a glimpse of the dark history of the Khmer Rouge time. Stories will be told, and meanwhile, take time cherishing the optimal serenity of the area. Also, do homage to the Buddhist stupa that enshrines around 8.000 human skulls of the victims. The guide will accompany you to the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum and tell more facts about the tragic past and the crime of Khmer Rouge. At a later time, you will be taken to the Phnom Penh Bus Station for a joined bus trip to Siem Reap. Enjoy the scenic 6-hour bus ride for an overview of the countryside landscape.

Have a full-day Angkor temple tour around Angkor Thom and Angkor Wat. Morning hours will be spent in the 12th-century last royal capital of Khmer Empire: Angkor Thom. Head toward South Gate (major tourist’s gate) to marvel at the mysterious, giant statues. Next, examine the towers embellished with more than 200 smiling faces of the Buddha of Compassion (Avalokitesvara) in the antique Bayon Temple. Other ruins of the Phimeanakas, the Royal Enclosure, Elephants Terrace, and Terrace of the Leper King are all worth beholding.

In the afternoon, you’ll arrive at UNESCO-listed Angkor Wat – the most famous of all the temples. You can touch the 12th-century masterpiece appeared on the Cambodian flag, observe classical Khmer architecture and art, take amazing photos, etc. Especially, appreciate the sunset view from the peak of Pre Rup temple.

Enjoy a deep expedition of Angkor Archaeological Park by first visiting Banteay Srey or “Citadel of Women” known for the intricate carvings and sandstone look. The next minutes will be spent in Banteay Samre temple that owns the elaborate architecture to perfect your morning adventure in the Park. In the afternoon, explore Prasat Kravan whose interior is amazing with the exceptional brick sculptures. Also included in the list are Srah Srang (“The Royal Baths”), the four concentric walls of Banteay Kdei temple, and the captivating Ta Prohm in which “Tomb Raider” was filmed due to senses of mystery and antiquity. What’s more, behold the religiously-dedicated Neak Pean fountain and the magnificent 12th-century Preah Khan temple.

At Kampong Phluk Village, you will experience a morning boat journey on the picturesque Tonle Sap – the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia.
